From Anne Sterling, President, LWV-VA

Our excitement continues to grow. For the past several months, you have been asked to "save the date" of Saturday, March 22, 2014 for the LWV-VA Spring Awards Luncheon at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond. Now it is time to formally announce our Second Annual Celebration of "Making Democracy Work" and to warmly invite you, your Local League colleagues and interested friends from your region to join us for this very special event.

In addition to a prominent speaker (TBA soon), we also will recognize the major accomplishments of each Local League and MAL unit from across the state and present awards for outstanding service/achievements to each league's nominee. Criteria and a timetable for those award nominations will follow in a few days.

The ticket price for the luncheon is $55 dollars per person and includes a complimentary same-day pass to visit the gardens. While the luncheon will officially begin at noon, the banquet room will be open at 11:00 a.m. so that attendees have time to participate in a silent auction and the raffling of selected items. Board member Nancy Warren will be in touch soon to request that each League consider voluntary contributions for the silent auction. Donated items could include art work; jewelry; vacation getaways; dining out certificates; wine baskets and other gift assortments. Donations representing your region of the state are most welcome, as are contributed items from individual members and friends of the league.

March 22, 2014 promises to be a positive and memorable event in the annual life of the League of Women Voters across the Commonwealth. The presence and support of your representative group would demonstrate our collective strength and vitality and ensure a successful celebration of our shared mission.

We look forward to seeing you on March 22, 2014.
